Comic and Cartoon Club Founding

Today marks the founding of a Comic and Cartoon Club at the University of Central Missouri.

As creative persons we do best when we follow our passions. For many artists, illustrators, and designers comics and cartoons are their passion. As with most traditional departments, UCM’s Department of Art & Design does not generally support these pop art practices. Many students find that their interests are frowned upon and discouraged by their faculty. It is our belief that these interests can be supported by the university community and flourish within an extra-curricular setting. The university is an ideal place where creatives in visual art, writing, theater, music, and technology can collaborate to pursue their interests and develop high quality work. We seek to provide a Registered Student Organization on campus that will help students with a shared passion find each other and work together. Our brief description is as follows:

A community for the creation and enjoyment of comics and cartoons; with an interest in collaborative works, networking, skills training, publication, distribution, peer critiques, and exploration of "low art" mass media.
